For most of these activities it would be useful if the students had some prior knowledge of the Triangular Trade. This could be through discussion about the information found in the triangular trade and impact on Bristol sections of this website or by exploration and discussion of the other wide range of slave trade linked sites listed on the links page.
The international slave trade is a rather emotive subject to teach and can require sensitivity in delivery. English Heritage - Challenges, sensitivities and language has more information about the sensitivity of teaching about slavery.
The suggested activities in this section can support the delivery of a range of curriculum areas including History, Literacy, Art and Design and Citizenship. They can be modified to fit in with specific topics or schemes of work.
